Changes to Missouri Paid Sick Leave and Minimum Wage Provisions

Last evening, the Missouri Senate passed legislation repealing the paid sick leave provisions established under Proposition A. The bill also includes a provision to eliminate the automatic inflation adjustment to the state minimum wage once it reaches $15.00 per hour, effective January 1, 2026.

While the repeal has been passed by both the Missouri House and Senate, it is still pending the Governor’s signature. If the Governor signs the bill into law, the paid sick leave provisions will remain in effect from May 1, 2025, through August 28, 2025. During this interim period, employers must continue to comply with all existing paid sick leave

requirements until the repeal officially takes effect on August 28, 2025.

We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide further updates as more information becomes available.

Thanks,

Carol Hudspeth
